Siliguri, 13th June: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has intensified its campaign against illegal constructions. As part of this drive, SMC demolished an unauthorized structure on the roof of a house in Ashram Para, Siliguri, on Thursday.
According to SMC sources, the structure was built without any approved plan. Despite issuing a notice to the landlord, the illegal construction was not removed. Consequently, SMC employees commenced the demolition of the unauthorized rooftop structure this morning.
In contrast, the house owner claims the case is still under litigation in the High Court and that the municipal corporation proceeded with the demolition without providing prior notice.
