Siliguri, 13th July: Siliguri Municipal Corporation observed the 207th birth anniversary of Nepali poet Bhanubhakta Acharya. A wreath was laid at his portrait at Tenzing Norgay bus terminal in Siliguri.
Board of Administrators member Ranjan Sarkar, Alok Chakraborty, Vivek Baid, SMC commissioner Sonam Wangdi Bhutia, Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh, and Nantu Paul were present at the programme.
Ranjan Sarkar said that like every year, this year too, SMC celebrated the birth anniversary of Nepali poet Bhanubhakta Acharya. He was not only a poet but also a social activist who always tried to lead the society in a good way. The day has been declared as a public holiday in Darjeeling district.
