Siliguri, 01st July: Two days ago, a heated altercation in the vicinity of Bhakti Nagar police station in Siliguri resulted in a severe injury to an individual named Gaurav Chakraborty. Currently, he is receiving treatment at a private hospital on Sevoke Road. In light of the incident, the police swiftly took action, apprehending two suspects involved. The arrested individuals have been identified as Gaurav Sutradhar and Ratan Ghosh.
According to the information, on June 29, Gaurav Chakraborty was returning home late at night with a friend after completing his regular work. A dispute broke between Gaurav Chakraborty and Gaurav Sutradhar near Khai Khai Bazar, falling under the jurisdiction of Bhakti Nagar police station. During the altercation, the accused Gaurav Sutradhar fired a gunshot at Gaurav Chakraborty, hitting him in the back. Injured, Chakraborty was immediately admitted to a private hospital on Sevoke Road. Subsequently, a written complaint was lodged at Bhakti Nagar police station.
In the course of the investigation, the police made significant progress and last night arrested Gaurav Sutradhar on charges of attempted murder against Gaurav Chakraborty. Following interrogation, another individual named Ratan Ghosh was apprehended from the Fakdaibari area in connection with the case. During a search of Ratan’s residence, the police discovered a firearm and two rounds of ammunition. Today, both the accused were presented in the Jalpaiguri court by the Bhakti Nagar police station, where they were charged with illegal possession of a firearm and attempted murder. The police have requested custody of the accused for further investigation.
