Inquiry, probe against Bhakti Nagar Police Station IC Sujay Tunga and Second Officer Sandeep Subba

ISiliguri, 04th September: Inquiry has been issued against Sujay Tunga, Inspector in Charge and Second Officer Sandeep Subba of Bhakti Nagar Police Station under Siliguri Metropolitan Police. The information was provided by Tripurari Arthav, Commissioner of Police of Siliguri Police Commissionerate.

The matter hovers over a controversial land dispute between Sushila Roy and Suresh Kumar Agrawal in Salugara. The case is, however, sub judice.

Sushila Roy alleges few people, including some policemen, are trying to encroach her land. When another such attempt was made on Wednesday, a police complaint was lodged and Roy was taken to the Bhakti Nagar Police Station at night.

The police action shows a complete violation of Sections 46(4) and 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) which prohibit cops from arresting a woman between dusk and dawn and calling a woman to a police station to record her statement.

When Roy brought the issue to the Commissioner’s attention, a preliminary investigation was undertaken.

Following this, Bhakti Nagar Police Station IC Sujay Tunga and Second Officer Sandeep Subba have been given ‘Line Hazir’ (police line).

Police officials declined to make any further comment on the matter.
