Siliguri, 08th August: The Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA) has launched an initiative to control traffic near schools in Siliguri. The move comes following the death of a minor student after being hit by a truck in Behala.
It has to be noted that many schools in Siliguri and the Mahakuma Parishad areas are located along the main road, and several small and large vehicles ply the road. Due to this, barricading will be arranged in front of the schools to prevent untoward incidents.
On Tuesday, SJDA Chairman Sourav Chakraborty visited several private and government schools in Siliguri. During this, Sourav Chakraborty stated that barricades will be installed in front of the schools which are located on the roadside. He added that around 100 barricades would be provided to Siliguri Traffic Police to be placed on the roads in front of schools. The Chairman added that he would also hold a meeting with the city’s Commissioner of Police in this regard.
