SJDA to carry out developmental work in Arya Samiti

Siliguri, 13th October: The Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA) took an initiative to carry out developmental work of the traditional Arya Samiti.

It has been learned that after the independence in 1947, some prominent personalities formed the Arya Samiti in Deshbandhu Para, Siliguri. Since then, various social service programmes have been held at the Samiti’s Natyamancha. Several renowned actors and playwrights have displayed their talents on this stage.

At present, the condition of the Samiti is lying in a dilapidated condition and no one has taken any initiative yet for the development of the Samiti. However, a library has been restructured on behalf of State tourism minister Goutam Deb.

On Tuesday, SJDA vice-chairman Nantu Pal arrived to look into all those aspects. He looked into all the issues and assured to carry out developmental work. Arya Samiti secretary Rana Dey Sarkar and other members highly praised the initiative taken.
