Gajoldoba, 20th June: A six-foot-long python was rescued after getting trapped in a fish trap in Takimari village under Mantadari Gram Panchayat of Rajganj block on Friday morning.
The incident came to light when a local resident, Khagendra Nath Das, spotted the snake inside the trap and promptly informed a voluntary organisation based in Jalpaiguri. Acting swiftly, Ankur Das along with his team members from the organisation reached the spot, safely rescued the python, and handed it over to the forest department.
Interestingly, a similar incident had occurred in the same location a few days ago when another python was caught in a fish trap. Locals noted that this time, the rescued python was larger than the previous one.
