Siliguri, 09th March: The residents of Ward No. 31 Shitalapara under Siliguri Municipal Corporation staged a road blockade demanding proper drinking water facilities, on Tuesday.
Reportedly, the water tank situated in the Shaktigarh area of the ward is under repairment. As a result, the water supply has been discontinued for quite a while. Although, temporary alternative measures have been taken by the SMC, however, the efforts are failing to meet the demands of the people.
While the locals are facing extreme difficulties due to water scarcity, they alleged the local administration of paying no heed to their grievances despite approaching them numerous time. Hence, the agitated locals blocked the road adjacent to the PWD More.
After receiving the news, the police reached the spot and the protesters lifted the blockade after administrative intervention.
