Siliguri, 07th December: Following an alleged betrayal in a love relationship, a young woman created a major commotion on Sevoke Road in Siliguri on Saturday night, disrupting traffic for several hours.
Due to the incident, vehicles came to a standstill, while many passersby stopped on the road to watch the dramatic scenes, further worsening the situation.
Upon receiving information, police from Bhakti Nagar police station and the traffic department rushed to the spot. However, the woman refused to calm down despite repeated efforts by the police. Later, women police personnel were called to the scene. After conducting a medical examination, the woman was taken into safe custody by the women’s police station.
According to police sources, the woman alleged that her boyfriend, identified as Rajesh Bhagat, had betrayed her, which left her mentally distressed. Angry over the alleged infidelity, she chose to express her frustration publicly on Sevoke Road. During the incident, the woman vandalised her boyfriend’s car and sat on its roof for nearly two hours, turning the episode into a public spectacle.
As a result, severe traffic congestion was reported in the area, and traffic police had to struggle for hours to regulate the movement of vehicles. After the woman was finally brought under control and taken into safe custody, police heaved a sigh of relief.
Bhakti Nagar police have begun questioning her in connection with the incident and stated that a notice will be issued in the matter.
