Siliguri, 13th February: A school teacher from Siliguri lost 1 lakh 10 thousand rupees after falling prey to a phone call scam.
Sudhin Sarkar, a resident of Siliguri’s Deshbandhupara received a call from an unknown number on February 10. He alleged that the person on the phone introduced himself as the bank manager and informed him that the validity of his ATM card would expire soon.
As the date written on the card matched with the date mentioned on the phone, Sarkar believed him. Following which, his son provided the card details and the OTP received on his mobile phone. After this, a total of 1 lakh 10 thousand rupees was deducted from his bank account.
The victim then lodged a complaint at the Siliguri Cyber Crime Police Station.
