Siliguri’s Anandamoyee Kalibari adopts safety measures to help prevent COVID-19 in Durga Puja

Siliguri, 18th October: This year during Durga Puja, prasad will not be distributed in Siliguri’s Anandamoyee Kalibari and no garments will be distributed among the needy. Such an initiative has been taken to restrict crowds in view of the ongoing pandemic.

Bhaskar Biswas, general secretary of Anandamoyee Kalibari, said that this year the temple’s Durgapuja entered its 89th year. Even during Ashtami’s Pushpanjali, 20-25 people will be allowed to enter the temple at a time. As a result, 25 rounds of Pushpanjali will be held.

Besides, police administration will be deployed during the Puja days to control traffic congestion on Kalibari Road. To avoid crowds, puja prasad will not be distributed and instead, fruits will be given in packets. Thermal checking and sanitizers will be arranged at the entrance of the temple and the temple is likely to be sanitized twice a day.
