Siliguri’s Ambedkar Colony residents deprived of government facilities amid lockdown

Siliguri, 10th April: The residents of Ambedkar Colony in Siliguri’s Ward No. 1 are facing a lot of difficulties due to the ongoing lockdown.

The locals alleged that the sewers in the area are lying in a deplorable condition. No disinfectants and bleaching powder have been sprayed yet on behalf of the municipality. As a result, they fear of being affected by mosquito-borne diseases.

Since 90% population of the area falls under the BPL (Below Poverty Line) category, the lockdown has hit them the hardest. It has been alleged that they have not yet received any government aid.

The locals further stated that despite reporting the matter to the ward councilor several times, no settlement has been provided yet.
