Siliguri, 28th December: A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday night when two friends from the Baneswar More of the Eastern Bypass met a horrific accident while on a cycling trip towards Rohini. The incident led to the death of Dipankar Roy while his friend Jeet Roy sustained severe injuries.
As per details gathered, both individuals would frequently go on cycling trips over the highlands for sightseeing. Similarly, on Wednesday morning, the duo headed towards Rohini on their bicycles without informing their families when they were fatally hit by a goods-laden vehicle near the Rohini Toll Plaza.
Following the incident, the armed forces and locals rescued the injured and sent them to the Sukna Hospital, where doctors proclaimed Dipankar Roy dead. In the meantime, Jeet Roy has been referred to the Siliguri District Hospital for his critical condition. The tragedy led to an atmosphere of mourning in the entire area.
