Siliguri, 26th May: A tragic incident unfolded in the Thakur Nagar area near the Eastern Bypass of Siliguri, where a young man, identified as Khagendra Chakraborty, committed suicide while on a video call with his wife. His hanging body was discovered at his residence on Sunday night.
According to family sources, Khagendra had married just three months ago. Since the wedding, frequent arguments had reportedly taken place between the couple. The most recent quarrel occurred last Wednesday, after which his wife left for her parental home.
On Sunday night, Khagendra reportedly contacted his wife through a video call. During the call, he allegedly took the extreme step. After the incident, his wife informed Khagendra’s sister, who, along with other family members, rushed to the scene and recovered the body. He was taken to Siliguri District Hospital.
On Monday, the body was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, Khagendra’s sister alleged that his wife did not return after the incident and that her family has remained unresponsive.
