Siliguri, 08th May: In a tragic incident, a youth committed suicide by jumping into the Teesta River from the Sevoke Coronation Bridge, creating shock in the Ghogomali area of Ward No. 37 in Siliguri. The deceased has been identified as Tapas Saha.
Family sources revealed that Tapas left his house for work on Thursday morning, as usual. However, he left his bike, mobile phone, and wallet behind at home. Later, his wife found a message on his phone that read, “I can’t take the pressure anymore.” Tapas then made a call from an unknown number, informing his wife that he was committing suicide, after which the call ended abruptly.
Upon learning about the situation, his family immediately filed a written complaint at the Ashighar Outpost. Soon after, news broke that Tapas had jumped into the Teesta River from the Coronation Bridge.
Tapas had been married to Pinki Das, a resident of Rabindra Nagar, just six months ago. Initial police investigations suggest that family unrest may have played a role in the incident. The police have started a full investigation into the matter.
