Siliguri, 09th January: Siliguri Women Police arrested a young man last night for allegedly sexually abusing a 7-year-old minor. The arrested has been identified as Devjit Bhowmick, a resident of Bharat Nagar area.
According to the information, the minor was playing in her relative’s car yesterday. Bhowmick, in a drunken state, tried to commit sexual assault on the child. After which a written complaint was filed against the said youth in Siliguri police station on behalf of the minor’s family.
Based on the complaint, the police arrested the accused youth from his house and brought him to the police station. Police have started further action by registering a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
