Siliguri, 07th September: In a recent development, the Matigara police have arrested a youth, identified as Gaurav Roy (19) on charges of exploiting a minor girl under the guise of a love affair. Roy, a resident of the Matigara police station area, is accused of deceiving the minor by engaging in physical relations with her while promising marriage.
The case came to light on August 22 when the minor girl filed a complaint against Roy. According to her statement, she met Roy and developed a relationship that led him to lure her away from home in May with a marriage promise. The couple lived together for about two months, during which Roy had physical relations with the minor, who subsequently became pregnant.
After Roy abandoned her, the minor girl reported the incident to the police. Following an investigation, the Matigara police arrested Roy from his residence on Friday. He was produced in Siliguri court on Saturday. The police continue to investigate the case.
