Siliguri, 01st May: The hardest hit by the nation-wide lockdown are the poor, daily wagers, and the homeless. Most of them are facing severe economic challenges during the lockdown as they are hardly left with any money to support their livelihoods.
Since all work has been suspended due to the ongoing lockdown, Ravi Barman, an e-rickshaw (toto) driver and a resident of Siliguri’s Ward No. 18 was struggling to earn his living. Since Barman does not own a toto of his own, he found an alternative solution to make few penny.
The toto driver is spotted selling vegetables near the College Para area every day. Barman stated that the alternative taken does not help him earn enough to feed his family in such a crisis, however, he might continue to run the small business after the COVID-19 lockdown too.
