Siliguri to launch modernized food street featuring a variety of delicacies

Siliguri, 14th September: Siliguri is set to unveil its first-ever modernized Food Street, offering a diverse range of delicacies. The food street will soon be operational on SF Road, opposite the Siliguri Fire Station, under the commendable initiative of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation.

As per details received, the food street will feature modern food stalls designed to cater to a wide array of tastes. The stalls are decorated and equipped with designed lighting and benches for both vendors and visitors. The initiative has been constructed at a cost of approximately ₹1 crore.

On Sunday, a lottery will be held to allocate these stalls to interested traders. The selected vendors will be required to pay a monthly rent of ₹1,000 to the Municipal Corporation. This food street model is anticipated to set a new standard for such initiatives in the state, as indicated by Mayor Gautam Deb.

In addition to the food stalls, the street has also been equipped with bio-toilets to ensure hygiene and convenience for visitors. Applications for stall allocations have been accepted online until last Wednesday, and the lottery will determine the final distribution of the stalls.
