Siliguri, 04th May: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation took action against illegal constructions in the city today by bulldozing several godowns in the Chayanpara Sarva Pally area under Ward No. 42. The citizens of the area had made several complaints about the illegal constructions, and Siliguri Times published news reports about the issue about 15 days ago. It is worth noting that the active reporting led the administration to take action, as no action had been taken despite repeated complaints.
According to reports, the godowns were illegally constructed near Bangla Bazar in the Chayanpara Sarva Pally area under Ward No. 42. The Bhakti Nagar police station provided security during the operation.
The executive engineer of Siliguri Municipal Corporation stated that notices were sent to the godown owners before the bulldozer operation. He added that the campaign against illegal construction in the city would continue in the future. The godown owners expressed their displeasure with the action taken by SMC.
