Siliguri, 26th November: A report by Siliguri Times prompted swift action as an illegal construction in Pramod Nagar, Ward No. 47, was demolished within 24 hours on the instructions of the local councillor.
The issue came to light on Tuesday when Siliguri Times reported that an illegal structure had been built around an electric pole adjacent to a house in the Pramod Nagar area. Following the report, Ward Councillor Amar Ananda Das immediately intervened, contacted the homeowner and ordered the demolition of the structure.
On Wednesday morning, the demolition work began under the supervision of the homeowner, with the councillor personally present to oversee the process.
Councillor Amar Ananda Das stated that the matter had not been previously known to him and thanked Siliguri Times for bringing it to his attention.
He added that action was taken promptly after receiving the information, resulting in the removal of the illegal construction.
