Siliguri, 18th July: The shocking incident of an audacious theft has left the residents of Siliguri in a state of disbelief and concern. The accused thief Rakesh Mistry, a resident of the Kholachand Fapri area, was caught red-handed in an attempted robbery. The incident occurred in the Anand Vihar Colony under the jurisdiction of the Bhaktinagar police station of Siliguri.
According to reports, the thief broke into the house of a local resident Amlan Jyoti Sarkar on Sunday and executed the crime after finding out that the house empty. Subsequently, the homeowner lodged a complaint at Bhaktinagar police station. However, the thief was unsatisfied with the previous execution of theft and returned on Wednesday night to repeat the crime. Meanwhile, the residents of the area were alert and caught promptly caught the thief.
Later that night, the matter was reported to the Bhaktinagar police station and the accused was taken into custody. Following an interrogation, the accused confessed to attempting both crimes. Later, the police recovered several items, including a stolen laptop, a valuable watch, and a number of pen drives from his possession. The repeated incidents of theft have left the residents angered.
