Siliguri teacher arrested for taking money on the pretext of providing a job

Rajganj, 21st January: Police have arrested another teacher in the case of duping on the pretext of providing a job in upper primary school. The accused teacher has been identified as Pankaj Barman, a Sanskrit teacher at Siliguri Baradakanta Vidyapith. He is said to be from Cooch Behar but has been living with his family at Hakimpara under Ward No. 16 for a long time.


Reportedly, the police of Aambari Out Post arrested the accused teacher Pankaj Barman on Friday from his residence in Hakimpara. It is to be noted that a complaint was made at the Aambari Police Out Post against the accused for taking several lakhs of rupees in the name of providing a job in Upper Primary after which Pankaj was arrested. However, the police have taken the accused teacher on remand after presenting him in court.

According to the information received, Pankaj Kumar Barman’s name
surfaced after a remand investigation. Today the accused has been produced in the Jalpaiguri district court. The police are probing the entire incident. Meanwhile, the teachers of Baradakanta Vidyapith are shocked after the incident. Principal Biplab Sarkar stated that Pankaj Barman had been teaching in the said school since 2021. The reputation of the school will be affected by such actions.
