Siliguri, 20th December: A Volleyball League was organized at Siliguri Kanchenjunga Stadium on behalf of the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Sports Council. A total of six teams participated in the league. The match will continue for seven days. The first match kickstarted between Bandhab Sangha vs GTSC Club.
Former volleyball player and ACP Grameen Achintya Gupta, Madan Bhattacharya, Nantu Paul, sports lover Jayanta Bhowmik, Manoj Verma and other renowned people of Sub-Divisional Sports Council were present at the inauguration of the league.
Kuntal Goswami, volleyball secretary of Siliguri sub-division sports council, said that the match was suspended for two years due to the pandemic. The organizers were unable to hand over the cash prizes and trophies to the winners during the 2020 tournament. However, this year, all formalities will be conducted following the health protocols.
