Siliguri STF seizes crystal meth worth crores from coal-laden truck, three arrested

Siliguri, 22nd February: The Special Task Force (STF) achieved a major breakthrough against drug trafficking in Siliguri after seizing crystal meth worth crores of rupees from a coal-laden truck at Fulbari parking.


Acting on a tip-off, the STF conducted a special operation and intercepted a truck. The vehicle was reportedly transporting 40 tonnes of coal from Manipur to Malda via Siliguri and was allegedly being used to smuggle narcotics.

During the search, officials recovered four packets of crystal meth concealed inside plastic wrapping in the driver’s cabin. The total weight of the seized contraband was stated to be 1 kilogram and 64 grams.


The estimated market value of the recovered drugs is around ₹1 crore.

In connection with the case, the truck driver Julum Sheikh from Murshidabad, along with Dilwar Hussain and Tonic Mian from Malda, have been arrested. A case has been registered against the trio under the NDPS Act.

The STF is set to produce the accused before a Siliguri court as further investigation into the trafficking network continues.
