Siliguri Shopping Mart Theft Case: One more arrested

Siliguri, 04th September: In a significant breakthrough, the Bhakti Nagar police arrested another individual in connection with a theft at a shopping mart on Sevoke Road in Siliguri. The arrested individual has been identified as Saurabh Pal, a resident of Dakshin Dinajpur who was staying at a rented accommodation in the Bankim Nagar area.


According to reports, the theft took place at the shopping mall on Sunday night where about ₹4 lakhs worth of cash was allegedly stolen. As soon as the incident came to light, the store authorities filed a written complaint with the Bhakti Nagar Police Station. The police investigated and arrested the store manager Subrata Ghosh and an employee Tapas Poddar and forwarded them before court on Tuesday.

However, another employee, Saurabh Pal, involved in the case was absconding since the incident. Police arrested Pal on Wednesday morning after an intensive investigation and recovered the stolen money from his possession. On Wednesday, the accused has been sent to Jalpaiguri Court. At present, the entire incident is under further investigation.
