Siliguri, 30th January: The names of several roads in Siliguri were changed a few days ago. Although there was no problem regarding the name changes, some organizations had difficulty with the word ‘chowk’ at the end of the road name. An association named ‘Joy Bangla’ staged a protest against the renaming of the roads from the very beginning. They also submitted a deputation to the Mayor regarding the issue.
Accepting their demands, all new names of the roads other than Hashmi Chowk and Guru Nanak Chowk now end with the word ‘More’.
