Cooch Behar, 26th December: In a significant development, North Bengal State Transport Corporation (N.B.S.T.C.) is expected to resume the Siliguri-Ranchi bus service which was closed for the past 10 years. In addition, new bus services will be provided for the general public in the upcoming new year. On Tuesday, N.B.S.T.C. Chairman Partha Pratim Roy revealed the information through a press conference at the Head Office of N.B.S.T.C.
While addressing the media, Chairman Partha Pratim Roy expressed that the prolonged stoppage of the Siliguri-Ranchi bus services due to complications in registration and documents will soon recommence. In addition, three buses with a total capacity of 55 seats will be available in the new year. He further mentioned that a 27-seater Cooch Behar-Darjeeling bus service will be functional three days a week.
Additionally, passengers have several complaints concerning long-distance traveling in buses. To address the problem, the decision was made to deploy new buses. Reportedly, the transport corporation intends to operate additional buses during the Cooch Behar Book Fair, Alipurduar Dooars Utsav, and Falakata Book Fair.
