Siliguri Police to extend traffic service hours; new traffic point inaugurated at Baneswar More

Siliguri, 28th November: With temperatures dropping and the risk of road accidents increasing, especially due to dense fog at night, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police is preparing to extend traffic services and intensify night-time monitoring.

Police Commissioner C. Sudhakar has issued key directives, stating that the department is considering keeping traffic services operational until late night during the winter months.

Under the plan, major traffic points across the city will remain active for longer hours, with increased deployment of traffic personnel. Strict action will also be taken against those driving under the influence of alcohol at night.

Currently, traffic services operate from 8 AM to 10 PM, but authorities are reviewing the possibility of extending the timings. A final decision will be announced soon, the Police Commissioner said.

Meanwhile, considering that the Eastern Bypass has been among the most accident-prone stretches in the past two years, a new traffic office was inaugurated at Baneswar More under Bhakti Nagar Traffic Guard. The Police Commissioner stated that the new office will help reduce road accidents in the area.
