Siliguri Police nabs two for extorting money impersonating as Judge and Auction Officer from Bihar

Siliguri, 07th July: Two men impersonating as a judge and auction officer were nabbed by the Detective Department of the Siliguri Police Commissionerate after a businessman accused the duo of extorting 91 lakh rupees under false pretences. The arrested accused have been identified as Samir Dubey and his associate Alam.


Samir Dubey was taken to the Kishanganj court on Wednesday and is being brought to Siliguri on a 3-day transit remand.

According to police sources, Samir Dubey contacted a businessman in Sevoke Road disguised as a judge as well as an auction officer. Dubey allegedly informed the businessman regarding a large quantity of recovered wheat that was going to be auctioned soon and offered the trader to buy it. Following this, the trader allegedly paid Dubey 91 lakh rupees.


Upon losing all contact with the so-called judge, the trader lodged a complaint at the Bhaktinagar police station. The detective department initiated an investigation and arrested Samir Dubey and his associate, Alam, from Kishanganj on Wednesday morning. They are being brought to Siliguri.
