Siliguri Police crack Milan Pally burglary, two habitual offenders arrested

Siliguri, 11th December: Siliguri Police have solved the burglary reported from an empty house in Milan Pally’s P&T Street.


Reportedly, acting on confidential information, police arrested the main accused and his accomplice eight days after the incident and recovered the stolen gold jewellery based on their statements. The details were shared by Siliguri Metropolitan Police ACP Somnath Das during a press conference at Siliguri Police Station.

According to ACP Das, on 02nd December miscreants targeted an empty house in P&T Street and executed the theft. After the homeowner returned, a written complaint was lodged at Siliguri Police Station on 05th December. Acting on the complaint, police initiated an investigation and, with the help of intelligence inputs, arrested Prakash Deb from the Jalpai More bus stand on 06th December.


The accused was produced before the Siliguri Court on 07th December, where police secured a five-day remand. During interrogation, the name of another suspect, Jayanta Roy, surfaced. Subsequently, police arrested Roy from a rented house in Pran Krishna Colony Lane 2 under Ward No. 28.

Interrogation of Jayanta Roy led to the recovery of gold jewellery hidden in his rented premises. The recovered gold weighs over 90 grams, with an estimated worth of several lakh rupees. Police stated that Roy will be produced before the Siliguri Court and taken on remand for further interrogation alongside Prakash Deb.

ACP Somnath Das confirmed that both accused are repeat offenders with multiple previous criminal cases. They jointly executed the burglary by exploiting the house being vacant.

The homeowner expressed satisfaction over the recovery of the stolen items and extended gratitude to the police for their prompt action.
