Siliguri, 26th September: The Siliguri Police Commissionerate felicitated 22 police officers and personnel for their diligent work in investigating the Matigara schoolgirl rape and murder case.
It is to be noted that recently the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court sentenced the accused, Mohammed Abbas, to death.
Earlier, in response to the incident, several police officers from the Police Commissionerate, along with personnel from the Matigara police station, undertook a thorough investigation, prepared the charge sheet, and swiftly submitted it to the court.
On Thursday, Siliguri Police Commissioner C. Sudhakar honoured the officers, including then ACP Rajen Chhetri, Matigara Police Station IC Samir Deosha, Investigation Officer (IO) Paresh Barman, and other personnel from the police station and Special Operations Group (SOG).
