Siliguri, 07th October: Siliguri Police Commissioner Syed Waquar Raza, on Wednesday, inspected several Puja pandals and immersion ghats across the city to review security and traffic arrangements, ahead of Durga Puja.
The inspection included the Mahananda immersion ghat at Mahatma Gandhi More on Hill Cart Road, along with several Puja pandals. The Police Commissioner was accompanied by ACP Robin Thapa, ACP Chandan Das, ACP Ahitagni Chakraborty, ACP Subir Dutta, officers-in-charge of various traffic guards and ICs and OCs of several police stations. Officials from the electricity and fire departments also participated in the inspection.
The inspection began at the Mahananda immersion ghat, where the Police Commissioner reviewed the access routes to the ghat, the movement of devotees and possible issues that could arise during immersion. He also assessed preparations for the safety and convenience of devotees.
The team later inspected the Durga Puja pandal at Central Colony and interacted with the Puja organisers. Discussions were held on managing crowds and preventing traffic congestion during entry and exit at the pandal.
The inspection also covered Subrata Sangha Puja pandal, Dadabhai Ground, Rathkhola and several other Puja venues across the city.
The inspection was conducted to strengthen security arrangements and ensure smooth traffic movement in Siliguri during Durga Puja.
