Siliguri, 27th November: Siliguri Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma, Traffic DCP Abhishek Gupta, SDO as well as the top officials inspected Matigara’s Bailey Bridge, on Saturday. The Commissioner held a detailed discussion on the construction work with the PWD officials.
According to the information received, the administration is planning to conduct a test run to ensure the strength and safety of the bridge before starting the movement of vehicles on the bridge.
It is to recall that on October 20, the movement of vehicles was suspended on Bailey bridge after Pillar No. 3 was affected due to heavy rainfall. After this, the construction work of Bailey Bridge commenced. It has been learned that from December 01, the Bailey Bridge will be opened for the general public.
Siliguri Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma, who arrived to inspect the bridge, held a lengthy discussion with PWD officials as well as on the traffic system.
PWD Engineer Rajesh Kumar Sinha said that the Commissioner of Police had arrived today to inspect the Bailey Bridge. Discussions were held about the construction and preparations of the bridge. He informed that the construction work of the bridge is almost 90% complete and that the administration will run a test run to examine the strength of the bridge.
