Siliguri, 26th June: After allegations surfaced concerning illegal call centres operating as makeup studios and welfare trusts, the Panitanki outpost police launched operations and detained 12 people, on Saturday.
It has been learned that a make-up studio and a welfare trust signboard were set up in a multi-story building near Church Road in Ward No. 10 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, where an illegal call centre business was allegedly being run for a long time.
On Saturday, the Siliguri police and Panitanki outpost police, based on a tip-off, launched operations and detained 9 young women and 3 youths. Some mobile phones and SIM cards were also recovered from the spot.
