Siliguri, 05th August: In a significant breakthrough, undercover officers from Siliguri police station arrested two individuals in connection with a bicycle theft ring, recovering seven stolen bicycles. The suspects have been identified as Mohammad Mozabbel from Pokai Jote and Sujit Das from Jyoti Nagar.
On Sunday, police received a tip-off that two individuals were attempting to sell stolen bicycles in the Jalpai More area. Acting on this information, officers apprehended the suspects and brought them to the police station for questioning.
During intensive interrogation, the suspects confessed to stealing bicycles. Following their statements, police recovered seven expensive stolen bicycles from an empty house on Burdwan Road.
According to sources, the accused had been stealing expensive bicycles from various parts of the city and selling them. The arrests came after numerous reports of bicycle theft prompted the police to launch a targeted campaign to apprehend the culprits.
Both suspects were produced in Siliguri court on Monday, where their remand was sought. At present, the police are engaged in further investigation.
