Siliguri, 20th August: The Special Operation Group (SOG) along with the police of Siliguri Metropolitan Police today arrested two women with brown sugar worth crores of rupees from the Milan Pally area. The arrested have been identified as Maina Begum and Shahina Khatoon. Both are said to be residents of Biswas Colony of Matigara.
According to the sources, both the women had been smuggling drugs for some time in greed for money. Likewise, they had reached PNT road of New Milan Pally Sukanta Sarani to smuggle drugs. The SOG received a tip-off and along with the cops of Siliguri police station, conducted a joint operation and caught both the women in the act. Upon searching, 500 grams of brown sugar were recovered from their possession. The estimated market value of the seized brown sugar is said to be crores of rupees.
The duo was arrested under the NDPA Act and will be produced in the Siliguri court tomorrow.
