Siliguri Municipal Corporation’s endeavor to provide artificial limbs to the differently-abled

Siliguri, 05th May: Siliguri Municipal Corporation has taken the initiative to bring to fruition the idea of “Thakbo Nako Badho Ghare, Dekhbo Ebar Jagat Taake,” by poet Nazrul Islam. Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) Jaipur has also come forward to support this noble initiative. Some people are born with disabilities, while others have lost their ability to walk due to accidents or complex diseases. The Siliguri Municipal Corporation and BMVSS have extended a helping hand to the differently-abled by providing them with artificial limbs, wheelchairs, and tricycles.

A camp is being organized at Kiran Chandra Bhawan in Siliguri for the next three days to provide these facilities to around four hundred people in the city. Mayor Goutam Deb inaugurated the camp today in the presence of BMVSS officer PR Mehta, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Mayor-in-Council members Manik Dey, Shobha Subba, and other borough chairpersons and councilors.

Mayor Goutam Deb stated that the camp was organized in collaboration with BMVSS, and if a suitable location is identified, such services will be offered permanently, free of cost to the individuals. The initiative by the SMC and BMVSS has been lauded by the differently-abled community.
