Siliguri Municipal Corporation launches crackdown on illegal water business

Siliguri, 25th April: Multiple reports have surfaced about individuals engaging in the illegal practice of boring groundwater and selling it through bottles or jars. This further is leading to a water crisis in the city due to unauthorized boring.

To tackle this issue, Siliguri Municipal Corporation’s Borough No. 05 launched a campaign. During this, it was discovered that a house in the ISKCON Mandir Road area was selling illegally drawn water. The Borough Committee members ordered an immediate halt to this practice.

The Mayor-Council, Dulal Dutta, and the Chairperson of Borough No. 5, Pritikana Biswas, were present during the campaign. They also visited a factory in the area. Reportedly, the campaign will continue in other locations across the city.
