Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh ends 24-hour hunger strike after garlanding Netaji’s statue

Siliguri, 23rd January: Alleging deprivation of development funds, Siliguri BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh concluded his 24-hour hunger strike on Friday. He formally ended the protest by garlanding the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

Ghosh accused the state government of deliberately blocking MLA development fund projects for opposition legislators. He claimed that multiple administrative obstacles are being created to prevent development works meant for the general public from being implemented.

He further stated that due to this alleged discrimination, several important development projects in the Siliguri Assembly constituency have come to a standstill. Warning of escalation, Ghosh said that if the demands are not addressed, he would be forced to launch a larger movement in the coming days.
