Siliguri, 30th March: The accused, Amir Ali, arrested in connection with the death of a minor girl in Siliguri, was produced in court on Monday by the police. The court has sent the accused to seven days of police custody.
Earlier, Amir Ali was arrested from Chennai and brought to Siliguri by the Pradhan Nagar police on Sunday. During his presentation in the Siliguri court, a large crowd gathered outside the court premises. The deceased’s family and local residents demanded strict punishment for the accused and immediate justice. Protests were held outside the court calling for speedy trial and exemplary punishment.
Tight police security was deployed at the court premises to maintain order during the proceedings.
