Siliguri, 05th September: On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, West Bengal Tourism Minister and Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh visited the home of his childhood teacher, Sukhamoy Das, on Saturday and expressed his respects by seeking his blessings.
Ghosh greeted his former teacher on Teachers’ Day and expressed his respect and gratitude. Sukhamoy Das became emotional after meeting his former student at his home after a long time.
Recalling Ghosh’s childhood, Das said that Shankar had been a highly meritorious student from a young age and that he had realised even then that he was different. He said many of his former students had gone on to establish themselves in various fields, including as scientists, and Shankar was among them, having entered politics and gone on to serve as a minister in the state government.
Das further said he was extremely happy that Shankar had visited his home and sought his blessings. He recalled that there was once a room beneath the house where he used to teach students. Seeing a student from those days reach such a position was a matter of immense pride for him as a teacher.
