Siliguri Metropolitan Police takes action against E-Rickshaws once again, seizes 400 totos

Siliguri, 14th September: Siliguri Police once again resumes shutting down the plying of e-rickshaws ahead of Puja to keep the city congestion free during the celebrations. For some time the police had stopped this operation. Due to this the number and unnumbered e-rickshaws started running on the main road and also on the small streets and roads. But once again the police have become strict against the ply of the vehicle.

It is to be noted that, a directory was issued by the Siliguri Metropolitan Police that imposed a total ban on toto rickshaws without number plates.

In regard to this, once again the police have started a campaign against the e-rickshaws. Within the last two days, more than 400 totos have been caught and seized in the Commissionerate Ground by the police.

The toto drivers and owners reached the Commissionerate Ground and expressed their displeasure and protested. Toto drivers questioned that if the said vehicles are illegal then why the showrooms are selling such vehicles? They also further warned that if they are not allowed to run toto, then they will be forced to commit illicit measures to sustain their livelihood.
