Siliguri, 17th February: The Traffic Department of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police, on the last day of Road Safety Month, have launched several initiatives for the security of women in the city along with road safety.
A seminar on road safety as well as women safety was organized by the Bhaktinagar Traffic Guard at a hotel in Salugara, today. Apart from police officers, the seminar was graced by women working in malls and various establishments, bus, toto, city auto drivers.
The women who attended the seminar put forward the problems faced by them while travelling on public transport. Following this, a helpline number was released by the police who then advised the women to travel without any fear. Reportedly, through this number, any woman can complain at any point in time regarding a problem. Police will take prompt action as soon as the complaint is received.
Along with this, women were also given tips regarding their security from the traffic police in the seminar. The police advised any woman is travelling in any car at night, to share the vehicle number with their family members. And also to send the location to relatives through WhatsApp. Furthermore, the police advised the women to contact the helpline number in case of any doubt of any kind.
