Siliguri Metropolitan Police distributes blankets to 50 homeless people as winter begins

Siliguri, 15th November: With the onset of winter, Siliguri Metropolitan Police extended support to the homeless by distributing blankets late at night across the city.


Under the leadership of Police Commissioner C. Sudhakar, the Traffic Police team reached out to people sleeping on roadsides, near railway stations and temple premises.

DCP (Traffic) Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed personally accompanied the police team as they visited various areas to identify those in need. A total of 50 people sleeping under the open sky received blankets as protection against the early winter chill.


Speaking on the occasion, DCP Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed said that the duty of the police goes beyond maintaining law and order; standing beside the needy is also an important responsibility. The initiative was carried out at multiple locations in the city under the guidance of Commissioner C. Sudhakar.
