Siliguri, 13th June: Siliguri, known for various instances of fraud, has witnessed yet another case of deceit coming to light. Two toto drivers were involved in duping people by using a photo of a girl under the pretext of offering prostitution services. The Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police successfully exposed the racket and apprehended both culprits. The arrested individuals have been identified as Prashant Saha (31) and Bapi Sutradhar (30), residents of Bhakti Nagar in Siliguri.
According to the information, the accused would station themselves with their toto vehicles on Vivekananda Road. Upon spotting potential customers, they would display a photo of the girl, enticing them with the promise of illicit activities. Subsequently, the unsuspecting victims were swindled out of substantial sums of money. However, one of the victims recently filed a direct complaint with the Police Commissioner, prompting the matter to be transferred to the SOG.
Following the complaint, the SOG swiftly apprehended both accused individuals, who were found engaging in fraudulent activities under the guise of prostitution, near Sevoke Road. The suspects were subsequently handed over to the Panitanki Out Post. Today, the accused were presented before the Siliguri court, where remand was sought for further investigation.
