Siliguri, 21st June: In a disconcerting incident highlighting concerns over cyber security, the verified Facebook page of Gautam Deb, the Mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, has been hacked. The matter has been promptly reported to the Cyber Crime Police for investigation. The Mayor’s Facebook page serves as a platform for him to interact with citizens, sharing live broadcasts, photos, and videos of various events and programs.
According to sources, all photos and videos posted on the page from the current year have been maliciously deleted. However, a few images and videos from 2022 still remain accessible. The Mayor expressed his concerns, stating that the recent issues encountered by the page indicate a deliberate hacking attempt. He reassured the public that the individuals responsible for managing the page are actively monitoring the situation and have contacted Facebook officials to address the matter and restore the page’s functionality.
