Siliguri Mayor hands over financial aid to fire-affected traders of Bidhan Market

Siliguri, 03rd October: Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb extended financial assistance to traders impacted by the recent fire at Bidhan Market.


Reportedly, on Thursday, the Mayor distributed cheques of ₹50,000 to the severely affected victims and ₹15,000 to those partially affected, drawing from the Mayor’s Relief Fund.

The fire, which broke out on September 28, caused extensive damage, completely destroying 9 shops and partially damaging 14 others in the market.


During her visit to North Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced compensation for the affected traders of ₹1 lakh for the most severely impacted and ₹50,000 for those with partial damages. The distribution of this compensation to the affected traders has begun following the CM’s announcement.
