Siliguri, 16th July: Siliguri Municipal Corporation Mayor Gautam Deb visited the family of martyred army officer Brijesh Thapa on Tuesday. Mayor Deb personally expressed his condolences to the family members at their residence in Siliguri.
Captain Brijesh Thapa, a native of Darjeeling, was tragically martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. The entire Darjeeling district mourns his loss deeply.
Born in Lebong, Captain Thapa also had a residence in Siliguri. His body will be flown to Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri today via a special plane. On Wednesday, he will be taken to his ancestral home in Lebong, Darjeeling, where he will receive a cremation with state honors.
