Siliguri, 04th March: The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) staged a protest demanding severe punishment of Dipankar Das, who was arrested on Sunday under the charge of molesting his daughter. Reportedly, Das is a resident of the Niranjan Nagar area of Ward No. 36 under the Siliguri Municipal Corporation.
As per the report, Das had been sexually harassing his daughter for a long time. The horrendous crime finally came to light when the girl, after being sexually molested again on Friday night, informed her mother about the entire incident. In this context, the victim’s mother lodged a complaint at the Ashighar Police Station, based on which the police arrested Dipankar, on Sunday night.
The Haidarpara Ghogomali Regional All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) staged a protest at the Ashighar check post on Tuesday night demanding severe punishment of the accused and also submitted a memorandum. Mahila Samiti President Sabita Saha, Secretary Pratima Paul and Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) secretary Dipankar Saha were present when the memorandum was being handed over.
